“Are Weirdos More Creative?” Editorial Illustration & Layout
This is an editorial illustration of Olga Khazan’s article, “Are Weirdos More Creative?”. The article describes an experiment in which individuals who were self-described “outsiders” were able to express creative thinking and problem-solve better than their non-misfit peers.
This idea was is depicted in my illustration of a “weirdo” creatively escaping a maze by using a ladder, while the non-misfits struggle to figure out a solution.
“Weak Fighter, Strong Flavor” Illustrated Magazine Spread
The concept for this food article took inspiration from monster fighting RPG’s and realistic food renderings found in Japanese animations. I combined the movement of a fish jumping out of water with sushi to both convey the message of the article and add a dynamic visual that leads the reader through the article.
